The design manifests from its immediate context, developing a language between wood and cable, inspired from the industrial rail yards present beneath the existing bridge and the natural setting. With the use of tensegrity trusses for the structural system and cables for intricate detailing, the design carefully weaves back the historical significance of the Nelson St. bridge. Several details speak back to the previous existence of the street cars that once passed across the bridge. The timber bridge creates a level of porosity capturing the moments underna=eath the bridge as well as around its periphery. The use of the tensegrity structure responds to the idea of lightness, frequency, flexibility, and expansion, terms that summarize the key concepts developed during the initial site experiences.
